Ecobank Group says its Pan-African Banking Sandbox is live allowing partners and fintechs across 33 African countries to gain access to its Application Programming Interface (API) to develop innovative financial solutions. This follows a successful pilot run with select Fintechs in early 2020. Benson Wairegi has announced his retirement from Britam after 40 years of service. The African Development Bank (AfDB) has re-elected Akinwumi Adesina for a second five-year term as president. Adesina, who was running unopposed, gained 100 per cent of the votes cast, the bank said in a statement. The election took place on the final day of the 2020 Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank Group, which was held virtually for the first time in the Bank’s history. Winners for the 2020 African Banker Awards were announced Wednesday recognising the reforms, rapid modernisation, consolidation, integration, and expansion of Africa’s banking and financial system.
