Somalia’s former leader Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has been elected president. He defeated the incumbent president, Mohamed Abudallahi Farmajo. Farmajo has been in office since 2017. Mr Mohamud received 214 votes, defeating Mr Farmajo who won 110 votes out of 328 MPs who cast their votes. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud will serve as Somalia’s president for four years, returning to the role he held between 2012 and 2017 before he was defeated by Mr Farmajo. Khusoko is now on Telegram. Safaricom Foundation has donated a Ksh 9.5 million boat ambulance to King Fahad Referral Hospital in Lamu County to help deal with medical emergencies. The ambulance will impact over 150,000 people by linking patients from Faza and Mpeketoni Sub-County Hospitals, Kiwayuu and Kizingitini dispensaries, Kiunga and other health centres to referral services at King Fahad Referral Hospital. Nyembezi will take over from Thulani Gcabashe, who is stepping down after seven years in the position, after the group’s Annual General Meeting on May 31.
