Oppo has unveiled its Find N5 foldable smartphone, aiming to “redefine foldable excellence” with its thin and light design, large inner screen, impressive battery life, and AI-powered performance.
But does the Find N5 truly live up to the hype?
As Pete Lau, SVP and Chief Product Officer at Oppo, states, “Find N5 unlocks the potential of folding phones, putting tablet and laptop experiences in our hands. It’s impossibly thin and light, and ColorOS 15 is precision-tuned to do more across two immersive displays, with AI-powered tools, and advanced integration with Macs. Find N5 doesn’t close doors, it opens them, unfolding the potential of all your tech while keeping you connected all day and beyond.”
Thin, Light, and Durable: Setting New Standards
The Find N5 measures 8.93mm thin and weighs 229g, making it “the world’s thinnest book-style foldable when closed.”
Oppo has focused on premium design, secure grip, and balanced weighting. The “Cosmos Ring” design element highlights the Hasselblad Master Camera System. The phone is available in Cosmic Black and Misty White.
Beyond aesthetics, the Find N5 is also “the world’s first IPX9-rated foldable,” offering IPX8 water resistance and enhanced protection against water jets at extreme temperatures.
Oppo’s “Armour Shield architecture” and “ultra-durable nanocrystal glass” further enhance durability.
Hinge Design: A Focus on Rigidity and Smoothness
The Find N5 features a “Titanium Flexion Hinge,” which is “26% smaller yet 36% more rigid than the previous generation.”
Oppo highlights Grade 5 titanium alloy and Ultra-High Strength Steel (UHSS) in the hinge construction. The hinge is designed for smooth operation, and the phone has received TÜV Rheinland Reliable Folding Certification.
Dual Displays: Large, Bright, and Feature-Rich
The Find N5 boasts an 8.12-inch inner display, “the largest inner display of any book-style foldable,” and a 6.62-inch cover display.
Oppo emphasizes the “compromise-free use whether open or closed.” The inner display is larger than some popular tablets, offering “two-in-one functionality.”
The company also touts the “class-leading shallow, narrow crease” and TÜV Rheinland’s Minimized Crease Certification. The “Dual Shielded Flexible Screen” includes nine layers for increased impact resistance. Both displays offer high clarity, a 1-120Hz refresh rate, over 2000 nits peak brightness, and 2160Hz PWM dimming. Both displays also support the Oppo Pen.
Battery Life and Charging: Leading the Pack
The Find N5 features a 5600mAh dual-cell “OPPO Silicon-Carbon Battery,” which Oppo claims delivers “the best battery life of any folding phone.” The company highlights the 10% silicon content in the battery, enabling a slim design despite its large capacity. The phone supports 80W SUPERVOOC wired charging and 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging.
Performance, Privacy, and Photography: Power and Versatility
The Find N5 is “the first foldable to launch with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform.” Oppo emphasizes the enhanced AI performance and power efficiency of the chipset. A dedicated security chip provides hardware-level data protection. The “Hasselblad Master Camera System” combines ultra-wide, wide, and periscope cameras. The periscope camera offers a 50MP sensor, 70mm focal length, f/2.7 aperture, and OIS, along with tele-macro capabilities. The phone also features Hasselblad Portrait Mode, Hasselblad Master Mode, and Dolby Vision 10-bit video recording.
Software and AI: Smart Features and Enhanced Productivity
The Find N5 launches with Android 15 and ColorOS 15, promising five years of security updates. Features include Boundless View, smart split screen, AI Search, AI Call Summary, dual-screen translation, and eSIM support.
Oppo highlights the AI capabilities of the phone, including AI Summary, AI Speak, AI Writer, AI Eraser, AI Clarity Enhance, AI Unblur, and AI Reflection Remover. ColorOS 15 also introduces Circle to Search with Google and Google Gemini integration.
Cross-OS Support: Bridging the Gap
Oppo is focusing on cross-device compatibility with “O+ Connect for Mac,” enabling seamless file transfer and remote control. “Touch to Share” also facilitates sharing with iOS and iPadOS devices.
