Nike has opened its first flagship store in Nairobi, setting up at Sarit Centre in a move that signals the brand’s deepening commitment to Kenya and the wider East African market.
The store brings together performance gear, sport culture and lifestyle under one roof, built around what Nike describes as an immersive retail experience designed to connect athletes and consumers with the future of sport.
Kipchoge marks the moment
Marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge attended the opening, joining a panel conversation with local athletes and members of Nairobi’s running community. His presence carried weight beyond ceremony. Kipchoge has spent years building a philosophy that transcends his sport, captured in the phrase that has followed him since his sub-two-hour marathon attempt: “No Human Is Limited.”
“Today is a special moment for Kenya and for the future generation of athletes,” Kipchoge said at the event. “Sport has the power to inspire, unite, and move people forward. I’m proud to see Nike continue investing in the running community and the future of sport here at home.”
A distribution partnership rooted in the region
The opening was led by Hudson Brand Development Kenya, part of Hudson Holdings, which serves as Nike’s distributor partner across North and Sub-Saharan Africa. Country General Manager Kieran Murphy said the store marks an important step in reinforcing Nike’s position in Kenya and across East Africa, with a focus on serving local athletes and supporting the long-term growth of sport in the region.
Kenya’s running culture needs little introduction globally. With Kipchoge as its most visible face and a generation of elite distance runners behind him, Nairobi represents more than a commercial opportunity for Nike. The Sarit Centre store plants a physical stake in a community that has long powered the brand’s story on the world stage.
