Jumia Foods, an online food delivery platform, has expanded its services to Meru and Nanyuki in Kenya. This move allows locals to order food from KFC with ease.
The expansion is part of Jumia Food’s strategy to extend its reach to secondary cities in Kenya. Sonali Patel, Jumia Food Commercial Director, expressed excitement about the expansion and noted the growing demand for online food delivery in these areas.
The country’s online food delivery market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 15% over the next five years.
Jacques Theunissen, CEO of Kuku Foods East Africa, stated that the partnership with Jumia Food is aimed at making access to KFC’s menu easier and creating new channels for connecting with customers.
“The changing consumer trends around online ordering, specifically in Nanyuki where the demand for delivery has grown, have led us to partner with e-commerce players like Jumia Food to provide this service,” said Kuku Foods East Africa CEO Jacques Theunissen.
Jumia Food currently operates in several cities in Kenya, with plans for further expansion. Patel reiterated Jumia Food’s commitment to providing convenient and reliable ways to order food and expressed optimism about future expansion to more secondary cities in Kenya.
