KFC has brought its Kentucky Town festival to Kenya for the first time. Kentucky Town 254 opened on 20 October 2026 and runs to 15 November, marking the platform’s debut in East Africa.
The campaign combines a menu built on Kenyan foods, an apparel range made with Nairobi fashion house home_254, and four weekend pop-ups in Nairobi malls. The number 254 is Kenya’s international dialling code.
Kuku Foods says Kenyans shaped the format
Kuku Foods East Africa runs KFC in Kenya as the franchisee. Dorothy Muthoni, its Chief Marketing Officer, said the company set out to change how the festival works, not only what it is called.
“We didn’t want to bring Kentucky Town to Kenya and simply put a Kenyan name on it. We wanted Kenya to have a say in what Kentucky Town becomes,” Muthoni said. “That means food that tastes familiar, fashion that feels like us, and an experience that gives people a reason to come together.”

The menu draws on mandazi, choma and samosas
Selected KFC restaurants now sell seven items for the length of the campaign:
- The Colonel’s Mandazi Burger
- The Colonel’s Mandazi Pops
- The Kentucky Choma Burger
- Samosa Crunch
- Catch These Masala Fries
- Birthday Cake Krusher
- One in a Melon Krusher
The menu takes flavours Kenyan customers already eat and fits them into KFC’s formats. The two Krushers are KFC’s blended frozen drinks. Kuku Foods has not published prices for the items.
The launch adds to a run of openings in the city. Khusoko reported earlier this month that Café Barbera opened its first Kenyan café in Nairobi. More restaurant and drink coverage sits in Khusoko’s Food & Drink section.
Four pop-ups run across Nairobi malls
Each pop-up combines food, fashion, music, games and interactive activities.
| Dates | Venue | Location |
|---|---|---|
| 23 to 25 October | The Junction Mall | Ground floor courtyard |
| 30 October to 1 November | Galleria Shopping Mall | Parking area next to KFC |
| 6 to 8 November | The Hub Karen | The Piazza |
| 13 to 15 November | Garden City Mall | Main entrance |
Customers who buy a Kentucky Town meal at a participating restaurant can use the receipt to enter any pop-up. Organisers said the first 100 visitors on 23 October would receive a Samosa Crunch.
Visitors can join the Wrap the Beat dance challenge, play virtual reality games, take part in a basketball hoop challenge and use a photo booth. Artists will also draw caricatures that visitors take home.
home_254 supplies the apparel range
Each pop-up includes a merchandise shop that stocks a limited edition collection by home_254. The range covers crop tops, T-shirts, varsity jackets, sweatshirts, sweatpants, jorts, shrugs and puffer jackets. A styling corner and photo spot let visitors try on and photograph the pieces.
Job Brian Jura, founder of home_254, said local production sits at the centre of the range. “Everything is designed and made in Kenya and hand-printed locally, so a Kentucky Town piece carries a little bit of home long after the campaign ends,” Jura said. “That is what the brand stands for, wearable art that lets people carry Kenyan creativity and pride with them.”
Kuku Foods has not announced prices for the collection.

KFC Africa links the festival to Kenya’s size as a market
Kentucky Town started in South Africa and has run in Namibia and Mauritius. Kenya is its first East African market.
KFC runs 48 restaurants in Kenya through Kuku Foods, which also operates the brand in Uganda and Rwanda. According to the company, that makes Kenya KFC’s second largest market in Africa after South Africa. Khusoko tracks food retail and chain expansion in its Retail section.
Hloni Mohope, Chief Marketing Officer at KFC Africa, said the festival aims to reach new customers. “Kentucky Town is all about introducing KFC to new audiences with entertainment, fun, exclusive experiences and merch, and a menu that takes the Original Recipe to new and exciting places,” Mohope said.
He added that the launch thanks existing customers. “We know Kenyans love KFC, and this is a wonderful opportunity to thank them for their support. Twende funky!”
The product team marks the launch
Keagan Canterbury, New Product Development Manager at KFC Africa, announced the launch on LinkedIn. “The launch of Kentucky Town 254 Kenya is here and seeing this vision come to life is nothing short of incredible,” he wrote.
He credited the project team for the effort behind it. “Getting a project of this scale off the ground took immense hard work, passion and relentless dedication from the entire team,” Canterbury wrote.
