Rubis Energy has announced the appointment of Olivier Sabrié as the Chief Executive Officer for East Africa and Group Managing Director of Rubis Energy Kenya.

Sabrié will succeed Jean-Christian Bergeron, who is returning to Paris, France, for a new assignment.

Bergeron, who has been instrumental in establishing Rubis’s presence in East Africa since 2019, oversaw key initiatives such as rebranding fuel stations, launching Ultratech fuel technology and Rubis gas, and introducing value-added offerings like the Rubis App, Rubis Card, and Enjoy shops.

“I am grateful for the support of our team, customers, and partners,” Bergeron said. “I am confident that Olivier will lead Rubis Energy East Africa to even greater heights.”

Sabrié brings over 30 years of experience in the oil marketing sector, having served as Chairman Managing Director, and Vice President for South Asia, at TotalEnergies Marketing India Private Ltd. His career with TotalEnergies includes leadership roles in various African countries, France, Pakistan, and India.

“I look forward to building on Mr. Bergeron’s legacy and driving Rubis Energy Kenya’s mission to enhance our customers’ journeys,” said Sabrié, recognizing the immense potential for growth in Kenya and East Africa.

Rubis Energy Kenya has nearly 300 fuel stations nationwide, with a market share of 14.05% as of December. The company partnered with Castrol in 2023 to exclusively distribute Castrol lubricants through its fuel stations, distributors, workshops, and spare shops.
