Fuel prices in Kenya have been revised downwards by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (Epra) for the June/July 2024 cycle.

“In the period under review, the maximum allowed petroleum pump price for Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene decreases by Ksh3.00, Ksh6.08 and Ksh5.71 per litre respectively.”

This is the second consecutive month with falling prices.

  • Super Petrol: Down KES 3.00 to KES 189.84 per litre (1.56% decrease from May’s KES 192.84).
  • Diesel: Down KES 6.08 to KES 173.10 per litre (3.39% decrease from May’s KES 179.18).
  • Kerosene: Down KES 5.71 to KES 163.05 per litre (3.38% decrease from May’s KES 168.76).

The decrease is attributed to a decline in the global landed cost of imported fuels.

“The average landed cost of imported Super Petrol decreased by 1.95 per cent from US$765.87 per cubic metre in April 2024 to US$750.95 per cubic metre in May 2024,” EPRA explained.

“Diesel decreased by 3.92 per cent from US$719.21 per cubic metre to US$690.99 per cubic metre while Kerosene decreased by 6.84 per cent from US$728.97 per cubic metre to US$679.14 per cubic metre.”

Regional Price Variations

The new prices are effective from June 15, 2024, to July 14, 2024, and include the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT).
