Kenyan music star Kevin Bahati and his wife Diana Marua are making history with their new reality show, “The Bahati Empire”, which premiered Friday, June 7th on Netflix.

Unscripted Drama and Familiar Faces

Bahati and Diana are the first Kenyan couple to have a reality series on the streaming giant. The show promises a no-holds-barred look at their family life, including the good, the bad, and the surprising.

“Right now, we are creating a serious banger, and you never know, maybe this will be the first East African reality show on Netflix,” Bahati said.

“It’s going to be the best family reality show in Africa.”

Fans can expect appearances by Kenya’s entertainment elite, including The Murayas, Karen Nyamu, Jalang’o, and Rev Lucy Natasha.

Bahati kept fans on their toes with cryptic social media posts before finally revealing the trailer. The production reportedly cost approximately 47 million Kenyan shillings.

The launch event was a star-studded affair, attended by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other Kenyan celebrities.

Building on Success

This new venture follows Bahati’s previous reality show, “Being Bahati,” which aired on Kenyan national television.

“The Bahati Empire” promises a new perspective, offering a glimpse into the unfiltered world of the Bahati family.

“Being Bahati”, the couple’s first reality show documented their lavish lifestyle and family life. However, it was put on hold due to COVID-19.

Despite the break, “Being Bahati” received a Kalasha Awards nomination in 2018.
