The Kenyan Ministry of Education has revised the half-term break dates for pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools for the second term of 2024.

In a letter dated May 24th, Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang informed education officials and students that the break will now run from June 26th to June 28th. This is an extension from the originally planned dates of June 20th to June 23rd.

“Following the disruption of the opening dates, it has been decided that the half-term dates for term two 2024 be revised,” read the memo in part.

“The change may require adjustments on planned activities and schedules.”

The revision comes after the Ministry delayed the school opening date from April 29th to May 13th due to flooding that impacted many areas of the country.

This delay disrupted the planned school calendar, necessitating an adjustment to the half-term break schedule.
