Absa Bank Kenya PLC is the official banking partner for the upcoming Magical Kenya Ladies Open (MKLO) Golf Tournament, with a Ksh 15 million investment.

The sponsorship demonstrates Absa’s dedication to promoting national development through sports tourism and women’s empowerment.

Magical Kenya Ladies Open takes place from February 8th to 11th at Vipingo Ridge, making it the first leg of a 31-tournament series within the Ladies European Tour 2024 calendar.

Five Kenyan amateur golfers have been confirmed 

The tournament provides a platform for talented female golfers from around the world, including:

  • German Alexandra Försterling: Winner of the 2023 VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open and the 2023 Mallorca Ladies Open
  • Czech Republic’s Kristýna Napoleaová: 2023 Amundi German Masters champion
  • England’s Alice Hewson: 2023 MKLO runner-up
  • Thailand’s April Angurasaranee: 2023 MKLO third-place finisher
  • Sweden’s Lisa Pettersson: Last year’s hole-in-one sensation

Five Kenyan amateur golfers, Naomi Wafula, Mercy Nyanchama, Channelle Wangari, Jacqueline Walter, and Kellie Gachaga, will compete in the only women’s professional golf tournament in East Africa.

The tournament will feature 108 participants from around the world.

Absa Bank Kenya recognizes the broader impact of this event, not just for golf but also for Kenya’s economy and women’s empowerment.
