London-based, Essex Police have confirmed that there was no cause for concern on board the Kenya Airways flight KQ100.

This follows RAF fighters’ interception and diversion of the flight from Nairobi to London Heathrow.

The plane was diverted to Stansted Airport due to a potential security threat.

“Officers carried out enquiries and established nothing of concern on board. The plane has been handed back to the airport which has remained operational throughout,” the Essex Police Tweeted.

The incident occurred just before 15:45 BST on Thursday, 12 October 2023. 

Kenya Airways confirmed receiving an alert about a potential security threat on board flight KQ100 operating from Nairobi to London Heathrow around 10:30 BST. 

“We received a security alert on the 12th Oct 2023 at approximately 10:30 am, from the UK Security agencies. This threat has since been established to have low credibility,” KQ said in a statement.

 

The airline’s management, in conjunction with the security authorities of the Government of Kenya and the United Kingdom, carried out a thorough risk assessment of the threat. 

All necessary safety and security precautions were taken to ensure the safety and security of the crew and passengers on board.
