Low-cost airline, Skyward Express has launched three weekly flights to Migori County.
The flights, scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, will cost Sh8,600 and take approximately 50 minutes.

Kenya’s Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen stated that the flights will greatly simplify travel for Kenyans and further solidify Migori’s position as a hub for commerce, tourism, and innovation.
He emphasized the potential economic benefits of this new flight route, including boosting tourism and enhancing trade and investment.

Expansion of airports
The Minister also disclosed that the government will invest approximately Sh1 billion each year in the expansion and refurbishment of airstrips throughout the country.
Murkomen emphasized the government’s commitment to funding and improving physical infrastructure, developing modern air transport policies and regulations, enhancing safety protocols, building capacity, and fortifying the institutions that govern the sector.
In its 2023–24 budget plan, the National Treasury has earmarked Sh727 million for the expansion and refurbishment of airstrips.
The estimates indicate allocations for Migori Airstrip (Sh211 million), Lanet (Sh203 million), Kitale (Sh130 million), Isiolo (Sh70 million), and Angama (Sh113 million).
The inaugural flight was flagged off at Wilson Airport, Nairobi on Wednesday.
This development marks a significant milestone in enhancing connectivity and facilitating business growth in the region.
Skyward Express operates scheduled passenger services from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to the following destinations: Mombasa, Lodwar, Lamu, and Eldoret.
