The Bob Collymore Foundation (BCF) has announced that it will be holding its very first jazz festival on July 1, 2023, at the Carnivore Grounds.

The event will kickstart a series of jazz festivals for the Kenyan market dubbed the Bob Collymore International Jazz Festival Series (BCIJF).

The festival aims at nurturing the continued growth of the Kenyan jazz market while building opportunities for underprivileged audiences and children to experience the transformative power of music.

BCIJF Festival Director Wambui Collymore has expressed optimism about the venture, saying that it will provide opportunities for over 300 underprivileged youth to build their careers in music.

“We shall nurture the continued growth of the Jazz market while building opportunities for underprivileged audiences and children to experience the transformative power of music,” she said.

The BCF has promised a plethora of top acts from celebrated Jazz artists who will be expected to grace the show.

The event will feature the sensational Nairobi Horns Project, the prolific Jacob Asiyo, the vibrant afro-fusion band Shamsi Music, the dynamic Edward Pareseen, and stellar guitarist Jack Maguna.

The Safaricom Youth Orchestra and DJ D-Lite shall also perform at the event.

Tickets to the festival are retailing at KSh2,000 for advance tickets and KSh500 for students and will be available on the online ticketing platform Mookh.

Since its launch in 2020, the Bob Collymore Foundation has worked to create platforms to promote sustainable business, nurturing the arts and inspiring business for good.

The foundation was set up by the late Mr Collymore’s family in his honour. The foundation has been focused on the things that were dear to him including integrity, music and arts.

He succumbed to acute myeloid leukaemia in 2019 after serving at the helm of giant telco Safaricom for 10 years.
