White House Lauds Global Teacher Prize Winner Peter Tabichi as Inspiration to the World

2019 Global $1 million Teacher Prize Winner, Peter Tabichi, met US President Donald Trump on Monday.

Tabichi, a maths and physics teacher at Keriko Secondary School, Nakuru County, was described as an inspiration to the entire world by the White House.

Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham lauded Tabichi’s commitment to helping the poor as commendable.

“His dedication, hard work, and belief in his student’s talent has led his poorly resourced school in Kenya to emerge victorious after taking on the country’s best schools in national science competitions. Peter, you inspire us all! Thank you for your commitment to your students,” she tweeted.

A member of the Franciscans order of the Catholic, Tabichi gives 80 percent of his salary towards charity particularly supporting needy students to pay their school fees.

Tabichi will make an address during the 74th session of United Nations General Assembly which opens on 17 September 2019. The UNGA will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

“The year 2019 is an important one as we celebrate this momentous anniversary and the great progress that has been made in the advancement of children’s rights to date. It is also a critical year for accelerating the Agenda 2030 on Sustainable Development, when Heads of State and Government will meet at the UN High-Level Political Forum convened during the opening of the 74th General Assembly to discuss progress and challenges in our efforts to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at local, national, regional and global levels,” said Unicef Executive Director Henrietta Fore.
