Aviation firm 748 Air Services has suspended its passenger flights business in Kenya. The airline says it will focus on its core business. “After extensive review of our business strategy, we have opted to focus on our core business, the Humanitarian Aviation, currently operating in seven African countries,” Moses Mwangi, the Managing Director, said in an emailed statement. Safaricom will pay an interim dividend of KSh 0.58 per share, or KSh 23.42 billion, to shareholders due to lower earnings from six months to September 2022. The interim dividend will be payable by March 31 to shareholders on its register as at the close of business on March 15. Previously, Safaricom paid KSh 0.64 per share, equivalent to KSh 25.64 billion. Safaricom’s half-year Net Income to September was Ksh 33,472.2 million, compared to Ksh 37,172.2 million a year ago. Kenya’s tourism earnings nearly doubled to $2.12 billion (Ksh 268.09 billion) in 2022, driven by a 70% rise in international visitors compared to Ksh 146.51 billion in 2021. Ghanaian career banker Mrs Josephine Anan-Ankomah has assumed office as the Regional Executive Central, Eastern, and Southern Africa (CESA) and Managing Director Ecobank Kenya. She will lead and grow the bank’s business in Kenya and the wider CESA region, constituting 18 out of 33 Ecobank affiliates and one representative office. Josephine leaves her role as Ecobank Group Executive, Commercial Banking. She has served the bank for the past 30 years in various capacities.
