Kenya has fully vaccinated 17.5 per cent (4,763,682) of its adult population for Covid-19, while 6,198,816 have received at least one dose, the health ministry said on Sunday as per data on January 15th 2022. “As of January 15th 2022, a total of 11,082,457 vaccines have been administered across the country. QuickMart, a Kenyan homegrown supermarket on Friday said it has expanded its footprint in Nairobi with the commencement of a 24-hour outlet in Westlands.  The retailer now has a distribution network of 46 stores, including 12 that operate 24 hours – Lavington, Chaka, OTC, Embakasi, Tom Mboya and Buruburu it said.   The new store will feature a bakery, liquor store, fully-fledged deli, butchery, and a fruits and vegetables section. “The branch will employ about 100 workers.“We are looking forward to offering fresh vegetables, toiletry and fast-moving consumer goods among other items at this store,” said the retailer’s sales and marketing…

Kenya, East Africa’s largest recipient of remittances, received USD 3,718 million (Ksh.421.6 billion) in 2021 with the United States being the biggest source, accounting for over 63.2 per cent of these funds, according to the Central Bank.   “The cumulative inflows in 2021 were a record of USD 3,718 million from USD 3,094 million in 2020, a 20.2 per cent increase,” the Central Bank said in its Weekly Bulletin.  In December, the Central Bank says remittance inflows was an all-time record of USD 350.6 million, compared to USD 299.6 million in December 2020, a 17.0 per cent increase.  “The inflows were…

Kenya’s Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) on Friday kept the prices of kerosene diesel and petrol unchanged across all towns between January 15, 2022, and February 14, 2022. Accordingly, diesel, petrol and kerosene prices in Nairobi will retail at KSh110.60, KSh129.72 and KSh103.54 respectively. Pump prices have stabilized over the last two months, thanks to the deployment of the ‘fuel stabilization fund’ as well as the relative softness of prices in the international market.
