The National Museums of Kenya started charging new entry fees across all its museums and heritage sites from 7 May 2026, under Legal Notice No. 79 of 2025, the National Museums and Heritage (Admissions Fees) Regulations 2025.
The fees vary by site, visitor category and nationality. Kenyan and East African citizens pay in shillings. Residents from the rest of Africa and foreigners from outside the continent pay in US dollars.

What This Means in Practice
For a Kenyan family of two adults and two children visiting the Nairobi National Museum, the new fees add up to KSh 1,100. Adding the Snake Park on the same visit through the combined ticket costs KSh 1,800, saving KSh 200 against separate admission.
Fort Jesus in Mombasa, one of the most visited heritage sites in the country, now costs KSh 550 for adults. The combined Fort Jesus and Butterfly House ticket at KSh 650 offers the better value for anyone planning both.
For foreign visitors from outside Africa, the Lamu combined package at $40 per adult represents the highest single admission in the revised fee structure.
The Museums confirmed the new fees took effect immediately from 7 May 2026.
