Interview Feature: Dr Catherine Masitsa on Flying the Kenyan Flag
Elegant, outspoken, and unapologetically fierce, Dr C has never shied away from the spotlight. Known for her commanding presence on The Real Housewives of Nairobi, the Queen Mother herself is now flying the Kenyan flag in The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Africa, the latest Showmax crossover bringing together dynamic housewives from across the continent for a luxury adventure in Brazil.
On Joining RHUGT-Africa
Dr C recalls the moment she got the call:
“Stepping out of Nairobi for the Ultimate Girls Trip was electrifying. A luxurious, all‑expenses‑paid trip to Brazil felt monumental. Flying the Kenyan flag alongside formidable African women was a dream come true.”
She admits initial worries about drama but kept her mantra simple: “Stay true to myself, be polite but firm, and focus on genuine connections.”
Reuniting with Zena
RHUGT-Africa marked her first reunion with Zena Nyambu since their explosive altercation in RHON Season 2.
“I nearly passed out when I saw her. I whispered: ‘Tutaenda nyumbani Kenya tukapigane huko tafadhali, sio hapa.”
The two have since reached a point of calm dialogue. Dr C emphasises her fight against harmful behaviours such as body‑shaming and archaic practices that diminish women.
On Therapy and Growth
After Season 2, Dr C sought therapy to process the negativity:
“It was about introspection, self‑awareness, and emotional growth. Therapy helped me prepare for the Ultimate Girls Trip by protecting my energy and maintaining inner peace.”
Bonds in Brazil
She formed strong connections with Madam Evoria from Johannesburg and Mariam Timmer from Lagos, praising their maturity and calmness.
“Our conflicts with Madam Evoria were principled, rooted in respect. With Mariam, the bond is balanced and supportive.”
The Season in One Emoji
“Explosion Emoji—because this season is fire.”
On Doing It Again
“Absolutely! My bags are packed already. The producers know that when you bring African powerhouse women together, you get fire. They will need me back, and I am ready to deliver.”
What Kenyans Can Expect
Dr C promises a different side of herself:
“On RHON, viewers saw the business mogul. In Brazil, you’ll meet the carefree, fun‑loving Dr. C—dancing on tables, pole‑dancing in a party bus, fully embracing the carnival spirit. Forget the prim wine tastings; this was Malindi on steroids.”
