NCBA Group PLC has confirmed the resignation of its Group Company Secretary, Kathryne Kamene Maundu, effective October 1, 2025, as she steps down to pursue personal interests.
Maundu exits with a distinguished legacy in corporate governance, regulatory leadership, and regional influence. She was recently conferred Fellowship status by the Institute of Certified Secretaries of Kenya during its 30th Annual Dinner held on August 29.
“The Board expresses its sincere appreciation for her invaluable service and wishes her the very best in her future endeavors,” NCBA said in a public notice issued on October 2.
Who Is Kathryne Kamene Maundu?
An Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and Certified Public Secretary, Maundu brings nearly 20 years of experience across East Africa’s private and public sectors. Her expertise spans:
- Corporate governance and board operations
- Legal and compliance advisory
- Strategic policy development
- Stakeholder engagement at executive levels
She began her career in law firms before joining Deloitte in 2004, rising to Senior Manager across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Her work included advising listed companies and multinationals on restructuring, compliance, and governance frameworks.

New Acting Company Secretary: Esther Kung’u
Esther Kung’u, currently Company Secretary and Head of Legal at NCBA Insurance Company Limited, has been appointed Acting Company Secretary of NCBA Group PLC.
Kung’u joined NCBA in 2008 and has steadily advanced through the ranks. She holds:
- Executive MBA – Moi University
- Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
- Certified Public Secretary (CPS-K)
Her appointment was approved by the Capital Markets Authority, in line with the Capital Markets (Securities) (Public Offers, Listing and Disclosures) Regulations, 2002.
