The 53rd edition of the Africa Concours d’Elegance delivered a dazzling spectacle of chrome, craftsmanship, and competition at Nairobi’s Ngong Racecourse on Sunday, 28 September 2025.
With over 10,000 spectators in attendance, the event crowned Sati Gata-Aura as the overall car class winner for the second consecutive year; this time with his metallic green 1947 MG TC.
Car Class: Gata-Aura’s MG TC Reigns Supreme
Gata-Aura’s MG TC scored a commanding 277 points, outclassing 74 other entrants across six judging categories:
- Underside: 37 points
- External Finish: 77
- Interior Finish: 59
- Engine: 55
- Roadworthiness: 6
- Age: 43
This triumph follows his 2024 win with a 1977 Nissan 160J, cementing his reputation as a Concours standout.

Mike Duder’s Essex Super Six was also named the most elegant car of the event.

Motorcycle Class: Triumphs and Comebacks
Vintage artistry took centre stage in the motorcycle ring, led by Dominique Antoine’s 1925 Triumph 550SD, which scored 179 points. Rick Agagliate followed closely with a 1926 Triumph 550SD, while Douglas Kiereini made a triumphant return with six bikes, landing third place on his 1980 Yamaha RD400G.
Iqbal Omar’s Harley-Davidson was voted the most elegant motorcycle.

Regional Flair and International Entries
Uganda’s Allan Mutumba won Best Foreign Bike with his 1998 BMW R1100 RT, while Ali Alam took Best Foreign Car for his 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SL.
The Uganda Bikers Association and Pearl Bikers Africa once again rode from Kampala to Nairobi, promoting road safety, HIV/AIDS awareness, and sports tourism.
Honouring Bob Dewar and the Concours Legacy
This year’s edition was dedicated to the late Bob Dewar, who led the event’s organisation for over 50 years. Alfa Romeo Owners Club Chairman Peter Wanday praised the high level of vehicle preparation and turnout, calling the event “a resounding success.”
Motorcycle Chief Judge Robert Gow, a two-time Concours winner, reflected on his 14-year judging tenure:
“Old is gold at the Concours. The older the bike, the more marks it earns—provided it excels in engine and finish.”
