Makini Schools, backed by South Africa’s ADvTECH Group, has acquired Regis Runda Academy in Nairobi, marking a major expansion in Kenya’s premium education sector.
The acquisition, valued at KSh1.23 billion, reflects ADvTECH’s continued commitment to delivering international-standard education across Africa.
Located in the Ridgeways area, Regis Runda Academy will be rebranded as Makini School Runda and officially integrated into the Makini network on August 20, 2025. The school has a capacity of 2,000 learners and offers a competency-based Kenya Curriculum, positioning it as a key player in East Africa’s modern education landscape.
“We are delighted to increase our Makini Schools footprint in Kenya and to bring the brand’s compelling proposition to parents and students in one of the fastest developing regions of Nairobi,” said ADvTECH CEO Geoff Whyte.
ADvTECH’s Pan-African Education Strategy
ADvTECH Group, listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, is one of Africa’s leading private education investors. The group’s acquisition of Flipper International School (FIS) in Ethiopia last year added five campuses and over 3,000 students to its portfolio, underscoring its regional growth strategy.
Founded in 2024, Regis Runda Academy quickly earned recognition as a pioneer in delivering modern, competency-based education. It has been ranked as the No. 1 local CBC school in East Africa, offering a progressive learning environment tailored to the needs of Kenya’s rising middle class.
Shaping Africa’s Private Education Future
This acquisition reflects the dynamic growth and investment reshaping Africa’s private education landscape. With rising demand for quality learning experiences, ADvTECH’s expansion is set to bring more opportunities, innovation, and excellence to learners across the continent.
