Purpose and Vision
The program equips emerging professionals with the skills needed to harness AI responsibly and deliver innovation across industries.
“The initiative emphasises the urgency of fostering responsible AI development and prioritises practical empowerment over mere awareness,” said Gregory Wanjama Mwaura, CEO of This is Digital.
The curriculum guides learners from ethical use to practical innovation, ensuring solutions remain grounded in African realities and align with global best practices.
Key Highlights
- AI Skills for the Next Generation: The program aims to equip young people and professionals with practical AI knowledge, supporting Kenya’s ambition to become a continental leader in AI research and innovation.
- Strategic Timing: Aligning the launch with International AI Appreciation Day underscores the program’s commitment to global best practices and awareness of both opportunities and challenges inherent in AI technology.
- Sectoral Impact: The curriculum and discussions will pay special attention to AI’s disruption across healthcare, finance, education, and more, reflecting “This is Digital’s” holistic vision for an AI-driven future.
This day celebrates progress in artificial intelligence while raising awareness about its potential benefits and ethical challenges. It serves as a timely platform to examine AI’s transformative impact across key sectors such as healthcare, finance, and education, and emphasises the urgency of fostering responsible AI development,” said Moses Kemibaro, founder & CEO of Dotsavvy, in his keynote speech.
This acceleration is not just technical—it’s cultural. Speakers urged professionals to evolve from “doers” to “directors of activities”: people who prompt AI with well-defined requirements and strategic thinking.
“If your role is easily automated, the risk is real. But if you understand the framework and can articulate solutions, AI becomes your amplifier, not your replacement,” one strategist warned.
The final takeaway? Relevance in tech isn’t inherited—it’s earned through reinvention, curiosity, and pragmatism. Businesses that fail to adapt may fade, but those rooted in strong fundamentals will navigate the ever-shifting digital frontier.
