WPP-Scangroup has announced the departure of Chief Executive Officer Patricia Ithau, HSC, following the conclusion of her contract.
Appointed in 2022, Patricia led the company through a period of strategic transformation, championing innovation, ethical leadership, and operational excellence.
“Over her tenure, Patricia built an innovative, ethically grounded, and people-focused organisation with a strong foundation of governance, compliance, and controls,” the Board stated.
“She championed the adoption of our generative AI platform, WPP Open, to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. These reforms position us for sustained growth.”
Patricia’s leadership legacy spans over three decades, with senior roles at Unilever, Diageo/East African Breweries Ltd., and L’Oréal. She has served on multiple boards, including ABSA Bank Kenya PLC, TradeMark East Africa, Jambojet Ltd., and the Vodafone and M-Pesa Foundations.
Prior to joining WPP-Scangroup, she was regional director at Stanford Seed, driving enterprise development across sub-Saharan Africa.
In recognition of her contributions to economic empowerment, Patricia received a Head of State Commendation (HSC) in 2020. She holds an MBA in Strategic Management from USIU-Africa, a B.Com from the University of Nairobi, and executive training from Strathmore, INSEAD, IESE, and Oxford’s Saïd Business School.
Interim Leadership: Miriam Kaggwa Appointed Acting CEO
Effective immediately, Chief Operating Officer Miriam Kaggwa assumes interim leadership as the Board initiates the search for a new CEO.
Miriam brings formidable expertise and analytical acumen honed over two decades as a finance leader across global marketing and communications powerhouses,” the Board noted.
“She will ensure continuity in close collaboration with Vikas Mehta, CEO of Ogilvy Africa—WPP Scangroup’s largest agency network.”
Miriam previously served as CFO, North America for BCW Global, overseeing finance and operations across nine U.S. markets.
She holds a BA in Chemistry from Macalester College, a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, and an MBA from Cornell University’s Johnson School of Management.
Her appointment reflects WPP-Scangroup’s commitment to operational stability and strategic continuity during this transition.
