Kenya’s corporate scene is showing strong signs of resilience and growth in 2025, with the country’s most recognisable brands gaining more value and influence.
A report by Brand Finance Kenya reveals that the total value of the country’s top 25 brands has now reached KSh 338.3 billion, with the banking, telecommunications, beverage, and insurance sectors leading the charge.
Equity Bank Retains the Top Spot
For the second year in a row, Equity Bank has been named the most valuable brand in Kenya. The bank’s brand value rose by 8.4% in 2025 to stand at KSh 71.3 billion.
This increase is not only a reflection of its solid financial performance but also of the trust it has built among its customers across the country and region.
Equity’s Brand Strength Index (BSI) score stands at 90.7 out of 100, making it one of the most trusted financial institutions in Kenya.
Its large customer base, clear brand positioning, and consistent delivery of services have all played a part in keeping it ahead of the pack.

Safaricom: Strong on Sustainability
In second place is Safaricom, whose brand value rose slightly by 0.5% to reach KSh 58.3 billion. While the company’s financial performance showed only modest growth, its strong reputation in sustainability sets it apart.
Safaricom has consistently ranked high in public perception for its commitment to environmental and social responsibility.
Its widespread influence, driven by innovation and customer-centric services, keeps it among Kenya’s most respected and impactful brands.

Tusker: Fastest Growing
One of the most notable shifts in this year’s rankings comes from Tusker, a beer brand from East African Breweries Limited (EABL).
Tusker is now Kenya’s fastest-growing and strongest brand, with a 67% increase in brand value, now standing at KSh 9.6 billion.
Beyond value growth, Tusker also achieved a near-perfect BSI score of 97.1 out of 100. It scored full marks in categories like familiarity, consideration, and reputation.
The impressive growth has been linked to a combination of successful marketing campaigns, growing consumer demand, and smart pricing strategies.
Banks Dominate the Top 25
The banking industry remains the biggest contributor to brand value in Kenya, with financial institutions accounting for more than half (KSh 185 billion) of the total value in the top 25 list.
Besides Equity, the list features other top banking brands such as
- Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB)
- Co-operative Bank of Kenya
- NCBA
- I&M Bank
- Diamond Trust Bank (DTB)
These banks have managed to retain their positions by adapting to customer needs, embracing digital banking, and maintaining a strong regional presence.
Insurance Brands Make Their Mark
For the first time, three insurance companies, APA Insurance, GA Life Assurance, and ICEA Lion, have broken into the top 25 list. This reflects the growing demand for insurance products in Kenya, especially in the life assurance category.
The increasing awareness among Kenyans about financial protection, combined with improved distribution and product offerings, has helped insurance brands become more visible and competitive in 2025.
Other insurance firms already in the top rankings include Jubilee Holdings, Britam, CIC Group, and Kenya Re. Their strong performance points to a more diversified financial services sector that goes beyond traditional banking.
Other Notable Brands in 2025
Aside from banks and insurance companies, other brands making a strong showing this year include:
- Kenya Power & Lighting Company – continues to be a dominant player in the energy sector.
- Kenya Airways – remains one of the most recognised brands in regional aviation.
- Crown Paints Kenya – a leader in the manufacturing and construction sector.
- Nation Media Group – the only media company in the top 25, reflecting its continued relevance despite increased digital competition.
- Serena Hotels – stands out in hospitality for maintaining a strong brand image.
In the beverage sector, White Cap and Tusker carry the flag, with the latter achieving exceptional brand strength.
