MultiChoice Kenya has launched the GOtv Streaming App for on-the-go streaming.
The GOtv Stream platform provides GOtv customers with a complimentary value-added service, delivering top-quality service powered by innovation and technology.
The GOtv Streaming App allows them to watch or download shows, movies, and other preferred content on the go via smartphones, tablets, computers, and other devices.
“This is a significant milestone in our quest to continue harnessing the power of technology and innovation to drive customer satisfaction and ensure that customers continue enjoying an unmatched viewing experience,” said Nzola Miranda, Managing Director, MultiChoice Kenya.
The GOtv Streaming App offers users the flexibility to create up to four profile accounts, download preferred content for offline viewing, create a watchlist, and control content suggestions on the app, among other features.
The new GOtv app can allow up to five accounts (people connected) to watch, but only one live view at a time. GOtv Stream is available for download on the Google Play Store and App Store for Android and iPhone users.
Showmax surpassed Netflix with 1.8 million subscribers. Showmax CEO Marc Jury attributed the success to a strong focus on local content production and revealed a 26% YoY growth in paid subscribers over the past four years.
The company has allocated $1 billion (Sh152.8 billion) to content production and acquisition on the African continent for the fiscal year ending in 2023.
Miranda disclosed that they are targeting 30 million smartphone users with the streaming service.
With the adoption of GOtv Stream, the firm is looking to grow the video-in-demand offering in all its service offerings.
“By 2027, the African streaming industry will be worth $2 billion (Sh306 billion), and we are looking to tap into the increasing use of smartphones in Kenya,” said Miranda.
