Chinese video-sharing app TikTok has launched SoundOn, an all-in-one platform for music creators.
The platform allows artists to upload their music directly to TikTok and to distribute it to various music streaming services.
No hidden transaction fee nor subscription fee will be charged, the app’s parent company ByteDance said.
With SoundOn, artists will be able to distribute their music to TikTok’s in-house partners such as TikTok and Resso, and global streaming platforms such as Apple Music, Deezer, Joox, Pandora, and Spotify. They would be able to view the list of platforms and choose which stores they’d like to distribute to when distributing music on the website.
End-users will also be able to obtain 100 per cent royalty for an unlimited time for In-Bytedance platforms (TikTok and Resso); and they would be able to receive 100 per cent royalty for off-Bytedance platforms during the first year, and 90 per cent in the years after.
By distributing with SoundOn, they get to retain all rights and royalties, meaning they’ll own their masters and receive 100 per cent royalties from all DSPs.
By signing with SoundOn, end-users get to release music to TikTok and CapCut worldwide, and Resso in Brazil, Indonesia, and India. They can also opt into distributing to global platforms to make their music available to all major digital streaming services worldwide.
