Bruno Thomas has retired as an independent director on the East African Cables board by rotation effective Sept 3.
The cable manufacturer, Bruno has served as a technical advisor for 14 years.
“His contribution to the company is evident in the transformation and modernization of our manufacturing facilities to world-class status. Mr Bruno leaves a legacy of safety, quality conformance, cost optimization and efficiency in production,” said the board in a statement.
According to EAC, each Non-Executive Director serves the Board for a term of three years which is renewable. In accordance with the company’s Articles of Association, non-executive directors are subject to periodic re-appointment.
However, one-third of the Non-Executive Directors are required to resign at each AGM and may offer themselves for re-appointment to continue serving the Board.
In the past, he held the position of Senior Corporate Vice President at Nexans SA. He also served as President of the Energy Cables Division, President of the board of Alcatel Kabel KG, and Director of Industrial Strategy.
In 2019, the East African Cables Group and Company recorded a profit of KShs 630.97 million and KShs 727.93 million respectively compared to a loss of KShs 568.38 million and KShs 399.70 million recorded in 2018.
