DusitD2, a five-star hotel in Nairobi, reopened on Wednesday six months after an attack by the Al-Shabab militants in January that killed 21 people.
Michael Metaxas, general manager of Dusit D2 Hotel Nairobi, said its reopening was a reprieve for tourists and business travelers.
“Over the past five years, dusitD2 Nairobi has welcomed leisure and business travellers from all corners of the globe and established itself as one of the leading international hotels in the city,” said DusitD2 Nairobi, General Manager, Mr Michael Metaxas.
“We now look forward to reaffirming that position through our unwavering commitment to service excellence, our new range of impressive dining and meetings experiences, plus the fresh new look and feel throughout the property.”

“The raising of the dusitD2 flag marks the end of the journey that began when the dusitD2 Nairobi flag was hoisted at six dusitD2 properties including Bangkok, Bhutan, China, Dubai and has finally come back home,” Michael Metaxas, dusitD2 general manager, said at the event.
Najib Balala, cabinet secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, said the reopening of the hotel reaffirmed the resilience of Kenya’s business environment.
“The government is committed to supporting the growth of the hospitality sector and will not be distracted by the evil forces of terrorism,” Balala said.
